World Down Syndrome Day
World Down Syndrome Day – Sunday 21st March 2021

Here at The Down Syndrome Development Trust we are looking forward to wearing some crazy socks on World Down Syndrome Day 2021!

On March 21, 2021, the 10th World Down Syndrome Day (made official by the UN in 2011), will be celebrated across the world. This event aims to raise awareness about Down syndrome and inform members of the public about this often misunderstood disability, and about the prejudices people with Down syndrome face each day.

The Hiring Chain

This year, to further promote the rights of those with Down syndrome to enjoy a full and active life in their communities a new initiative called The Hiring Chain is gathering pace around the world. Sting lends his voice to the global awareness campaign’s video, see here:

How you can help

Every year the WDSD is held on 21st March, this year that’s a Sunday, and we hope to raise awareness of the rich services available to families with Down syndrome in the mix locally and nationally. If you like, you can host your own awareness fundraising event such as cake sale, coffee morning,  pot-luck dish, etc. See our A to Z of fundraising ideas here.

And don’t forget to spread the word on your social media by using hashtags such as:
