information:We hold various fund-raising events throughout the year, to help fund speech therapy for our children, equipment resources and tricycles. We also have social   events during the year where all the families can get together. We had a summer party and Christmas party as well as bowling matches and other events for the children. Some of the children attend mainstream schools and some attend special schools. Some of the children attend a child development centre when they are small.

information:Kent Wide Down Syndrome Group (KWDSG) is affiliated to the Down’s Syndrome Association. Originally we started as smaller parent run support group in Medway, Canterbury, Thanet, Herne Bay – members of these smaller groups got together and decided that a larger group would have a larger voice, more positive changes and support could be given or made. We consist of parents, carers and interested parties and people with Down’s syndrome. We are run by a group of volunteer trustees from all areas of Kent.

information:Established in 2009, Footprints, Portsmouth Down Syndrome Support Group, is a parent led registered charity, that offers a warm welcome to children with Down syndrome, their families, carers and friends in the local area. We offer friendship, support, advice and essential services. We have recently extended our range of services and are now able to offer new parent and baby advice groups, advice sessions, coffee mornings, preschool Early Development Groups, a School Outreach Service, school age specialist speech and language therapy, as well as training days for parents and professionals. We also provide a drama group and preschool sing and sign group, as well as fundraising activities and social events. The group is affiliated with the Down’s Syndrome Association.

We meet regularly as families to share our experiences and provide a network of support, friendship, advice and expertise. The Rainbow Club (Isle of Wight) Down’s Syndrome Support Group

information:The Rainbow club is the only support group on the island for people with Down’s syndrome. We get together fortnightly at Ryde and Newport on Saturdays. Formed in July 2007 by Clare Williams after her youngest son was born with Down’s syndrome. Not finding any support group on the Island she decided there was definitely a need. The group has a growing resource library of books, DVDs available to loan out to its members. We also have family days out, fund training courses and are hoping to have our own speech and language support sessions very soon

information:Worthing kiDS is a Down’s syndrome support group for Worthing and the surrounding area. The group is for children and their families. The children have fun while the parents get a chance to relax and chat. It is also a good opportunity for their siblings to meet up and compare experiences. We have guest speakers twice a year and visits from child entertainers. We have an   information table and a small book and educational toy library.
